The Department of Engineering is one of the four Departments of the School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences. It also includes the largest and oldest laboratory of the NTUA. Members of the Department of Engineering use theoretical, computational and experimental methods to study the mechanical behavior of materials and systems. The aim is to study the behavior and response of materials and structures under mechanical (among other things) loadings and to formulate criteria that separate loadings into safe and dangerous ones. Today in the Department of Engineering there are: 15 Faculty members, 12 Emeritus Professors, 2 EDIP members, 2 ETEP members, 4 Administrative employees, 1 Scientific Associate, 12 Scientific Associates (Postdocs), 22 PhD Candidates.
